Undrinkable, Salty Water: Families without access to water and sanitation face health problems
The population of the Gaza Strip is nearly two million, with a growth rate of nearly 3% per year and an unemployment rate of 60%. At the most basic level, there are simply not enough suitable water sources in Gaza.
The 1.7 million Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip are facing a worsening water shortage. The untreated sewage has infiltrated Gaza’s groundwater, contaminating the water supply, which now contains high levels of chloride and nitrate.
Through UHR’s Weekly Water Distribution program, UHR delivers safe clean water to over 3,000 people every week in the Gaza Strip in response to the worsening water crisis.
