Hurricane Ida has made landfall in Louisiana, causing flash flooding and leaving hundreds of thousands of homes without power. The hurricane is said to be one of the strongest to ever hit the US Gulf coast, with winds up to 150ph, increasing sea level by 9ft in some parts. Officials predict that life-threatening Ida could possibly spread 40 miles inland. Half a million people evacuated parts of Louisiana and Texas, and one fatality has been reported. UHR is working with partners to assess the situation and ongoing needs of affected communities. UHR is preparing disaster response supplies such as cleaning supplies, hygiene kits, blankets, pillows, face masks and laundry products.
