Each year, Muslims around the world commemorate the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) by making an animal sacrifice to the glory of God. During the days of Eid Al Adha Al Mubarak, Muslims have the opportunity to follow the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (PHUH) to provide fresh meat to impoverished and vulnerable families. Through United Hands Relief Udhiyah/Qurbani Eid Al Adha Seasonal Program, benevolent Muslims can share the gift of sheep, goats or shares of cows with poor families in any of the countries we serve.
When to Give Your Udhiyah/Qurbani
You can make your Udhiyah/Qurbani donation anytime during the month of Thul Hijjah. Nonetheless, the sooner we receive your contribution, the better chance we have of ensuring that the beneficiaries will receive their shares of meat in time for Eid Al Adha.
** The act of Udhiyah/Qurbani will be performed right after Eid prayers on the first day of Eid. The shares will be distributed immediately after cutting and packaging is completed on the same day.
Animals Eligible for Qurbani
Animals commonly used for Udhiyah/Qurbani are sheep, goats and cows. Each Qurbani animal makes up a certain number of shares, as follows:
1 Sheep – 1 share
1 Goat – 1 share
1 Cow – 7 shares

Your Gift Will Help Starving Families
In the midst of a global food crisis, the most vulnerable families anxiously wait for their Udhiyah/Qurbani shares of meat. Famine was declared in #Yemen where 24 million people, that is 80 percent of the population are in need of urgent food aid. More than 12 million are children who suffer from Malnutrition.
In #East Africa, millions of people are facing starvation. Drought in the Horn of Africa has left about 11.7 million people severely food insecure and over 785,000 children severely malnourished in Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Uganda. This number is expected to rise in the months ahead as a result of consecutive poor seasons that have destroyed livelihoods and eroded the ability of communities to cope.
In war-torn #Syria, more than half of the country’s population – 9 million people – can’t find enough food to eat. Food prices have sky-rocketed while agriculture and food production stagnates, forcing families to spend up to 80% of their income on basic foodstuffs.
The people of #Palestine are also facing the worst. The United Nations predicts that Gaza will be unlivable by 2020. Additionally, 1 in 2 people living in Gaza and the West Bank go to bed every night. Especially families living in the graveyards.
Moreover, an estimated 650,000 people from #Rohingya were forced to flee to Bangladesh to escape the violence in Myanmar. These people are now displaced refugees in Rakhine state and Cox’s Bazar—the biggest refugee camp in the world located in Bangladesh. They lack just the basics to survival.
With more than 795 million people worldwide going hungry, your Udhiyah/Qurbani payments are absolutely essential in providing vulnerable families with nutritious food and the knowledge that they are cared for and supported. The gift of Udhiyah/Qurbani is also the gift of hope.
If you donate your gift of Udhiyah/Qurbani with United Hands Relief, you can guarantee that all your donation will reach those who need it most. We identify and assess the families who would greatly benefit from the shares of meat with the help of our teams on the ground and Ministry officials. Our teams ensure that these families receive their shares on the first day of Eid. For many people, this will be the only time of year that they can eat meat. Our goal is to enable as many needy families as possible to enjoy nutritious food on Eid Al Adha.
