Quality healthcare is vital to fight poverty

Communities hit hard by crises and conflict often suffer challenges and limitations that lead to a deterioration in the quality of healthcare. Shortages of essential drugs and medical supplies, poor functionality of outdated equipment, and crumbling hospitals and clinics make accessing quality healthcare almost impossible.
Additionally, high healthcare costs and restrictions on movement in some countries make vulnerable patients rely on smaller hospitals and medical centers that have very few resources. Illnesses and diseases affect people’s ability to work; UHR strives to build healthy communities around the world.

What We Do

UHR’s health program focuses on delivering emergency medical shipments and equipment, surgical treatment of preventable diseases like cataract; as well as rapid needs assessment of epidemic outbreaks and effective intervention to stop the spread.

Help Restore Vision For the Needy

It is estimated that there are up to 82,000 children with non-traumatic cataracts in East Africa, with approximately 19,000 new cases each year..for $150, you can cover the cost of one eye cataract surgery.

Our Priorities

The gift of Mobility- “I can finally go to school on my own. My ill father does not have to carry me every day to school anymore. I am so thankful.”

Providing Resources

With the support of individual donors and corporations, UHR is able to improve conditions and provide resources to hospitals and clinics in Palestine, Jordan, East Africa, and other countries.

Disease Prevention

Treatment of preventable disease is one of the most effective ways to lift people out of poverty, especially for vulnerable communities in refugee camps.

Vision & Hearing Screening

Early detection of sensory impairments is essential for a child’s development and academic success. In Gaza, UHR arranges for vision & hearing screening days for children in need to identify any sensory difficulties early on in life.
