Providing Essential Reconstructive Surgery

United Hands Relief (UHR), in partnership with MSF, IRC, UNHCR, and other dedicated organizations, proudly sponsored a life-changing cleft lip and palate surgical mission in February 2025 across the Dadaab Refugee Complex in Kenya, including IFO1, IFO2, Dagahley, Hagadera camps, and the surrounding host communities.

Today, reconstructive surgery can correct this defect – it can restore normal function and achieve a more normal appearance with minimal scarring.

In a single week, 48 successful reconstructive surgeries were performed for children suffering from congenital orofacial clefts. Every child who underwent surgery experienced 100% surgical success with zero postoperative complications. The procedures restored critical orofacial functions—allowing children to eat, speak, and smile confidently, many for the first time.
